Auriculotherapy also knowns as Ear Reflexology follows the same principles as hand, foot, and face reflexology, in that it is believed that the body is mapped out on the ear and working those areas can help the body areas it is associated with. Unlike it’s foot counterpart, Ear Reflexology’s roots come more from Traditional Chinese Medicine. During the Tang dynasty, this Ear work was sent across the world through the East India Company, and it was not uncommon for people to burn specific parts of their ear to help conditions such as back pain and sciatica at that time!
Ear Reflexology really came into its own in the 1950s, after French neurosurgeon Dr Paul Nogier created a map of the body on the ear, after years of extensive research. Thankfully, we now use seeds or probes to work the ear reflexes, and have learned to put away the matches!
This form of reflexology became very popular in the 1970s and 1980s in pain management, as Ear Reflexology can be a very effective pain killer. The Ear to brain connection is the shortest and most direct microsystem available for treatment, especially when compared to the feet and hands. As such, Ear Reflexology can have very quick but long lasting effects.
I was very fortunate to be one of a few people who has been taught Ear Reflexology by Karen Middleton. This beautiful lady flew all the way from New Zealand to teach a select few her Ear Reflexology techniques, and I was so honoured to have been one of those Reflexologists. Ear Reflexology is not only a wonderful treatment but it is a great self help tool, so you can continue to experience the benefits of this treatment for much, much longer.
To celebrate Ear Reflexology becoming available, this will now be offered in addition to any treatment completely free of charge, for a limited time only. Having Ear Reflexology will add approximately 15 minutes to your treatment time, so be aware of this when making a booking.
So come and try the latest wonderful addition to Solely You Reflexology’s treatment list, and walk this was to a brighter future!
